Oh my goodness, the jitters.  The first exam.  The first lab competency.  The first day of clinicals.  The first real patient.  The first baby patient.

The first year is full of firsts.  It is natural to be nervous, stressed, ready to quit from time to time.  Learning to work safely and competently with patients is an incredibly important journey.

Suggested Books

Oakes Respiratory Care Pocket Guide This pocket guide has every drug, every major respiratory disease, all the procedures you might perform (ABGs, Bronchial Hygiene, Nebulized treatments, etc.), and tons on assessment.  This is our best-seller and my personal highest recommendation for you to purchase prior to clinicals.
